9 June 2024 – It’s already the most successful championship ever for Italy and they’re not done yet: Yemaneberhan Crippa and Pietro Riva secure gold and silver in the men’s half marathon; Norwegian Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal wins the women’s title. More history also for Ireland as Ciara Mageean finally earns a major title in the 1500m. France do a double in the middle distances: Gabriel Tual’s in the men’s 800m and Alice Finot in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase. A great day for Ukraine as well: Yaroslava Mahuchikh defends her high jump crown, with her teammate Iryna Gerashchenko taking bronze behind Serbian teenager Angelica Topic. Day 3 also saw two brilliant comebacks: Spain’s Ana Peleteiro-Compaoré wins the triple jump after becoming a mother in December 2022, and Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith is the100m champion once more. Poland’s Wojciech Nowicki show his quality in the hammer throw for the third successive time.
